Welcome Flying V! Another musician, cool! I drum and mess around with other instruments. I have a bad habit of collecting guitars...a nice PRS and a cheap Strat along with some sundry electrics and lots of acoustics (Taylor, Martin, Guild, Larrivee).
    Rock on!

I'm hard to take. Like a bitter little pill.

18+ years ago before the internet there were BBSs. It was my ID and your ID was called your Nick or handle (nickname). Your nick was suposed to be cool sounding and I was known to flame(fight) a bit online.
The reason it is 1 L instead of 2 is that the board OP had a limited amout of chars and there you go.

Im an ass with a great great personality.

Cool! I constantly rag the newer "load toads" here for being 2W1s. (the new AFSC for the old 462XX code) They're all trained at Sheppard in Texas. Did you go through Lowry in Colorado? Nice to meet ya!:strong:

Yep, I went through Lowry, 1967/68, giving off my age now! I went back to Lowry 1976/78 as an instructor in what was called the "Black Shack". I also met my wife there! She worked in the admin office with the superintendent. She's also retired Air Force. We were married in the Eisenhower chapel at Lowry. I retired in 1988. Now work as a welder. Not much of a demand for us old "load toads" in the civilian sector so I wanted to learn a skill that could be used nation wide. Went to welding school after retirement and have been at it ever since. Finished the PAIR valve and 02 bypass mod this weekend and now the bike runs like a motorcycle should! No hesitation/stumbling as before and the transition into the VTEC mode is smooth as silk. Good to meet you and thanx for your service to our country!! Keep in touch and we'll chat from time to time.

Oh boy, I'd rather not go here as the jinx may follow on my VFR...
    '82 - Kawa AR50 - clipped a jaywalker at about 20kph and fell over.
'83 - Same Kawa - lost it on a track hairpin, serious butt burn
'86 - Kawa GPz750 - speed-wobble down freeway, managed to keep it up but feet took a beating on the tar (was wearing sneakers - live and learn)
'90 - Yamaha XJ650T - got clipped by a passing cage, dropped it on the verge
Then a long break (marriage, kids, career, etc) followed by midlife crisis :D
'05 - Kawa ZXR400 - Dropped it twice, once on loose gravel on the road, and once through an oil slick at night :(
    '08 - Honda VFR800 - So far so good. :D

mmmmmm - great idea for a thread and interesting to get to know my fellow VFR pilots.

My name - I could say it was because I make a noise like a wookie when I get "real" excited, but in reality it's just a nickname my wife has had for me over the past 24 years.

And I don't know why she started calling me Chewa!

I have been going by the name Heretic since the internet started (yes, I am a a bit of a computer nerd and yes I had a 9600 baud modem with a 10Mhz XT PC!)

I got the name from my favourite Sci Fi novels - the Dune series by Frank Herbert.
One of the books is called "Heretic's of Dune"

I also used/use it for online gaming (doom, Quake, Enemy Territory).

Better - in Computer Science 11LD in High School, we had to use "punch cards" - that was back in 1981.

Ah, you computer newbies annoy me (just kidding, of course) First one I had was a Texas Instruments TI/99-4A, then a Radio Shack Color Computer. I finally went "Big Time" with a CP/M machine. I think that one had a 1 mHz clock in it, and I know it had a 1,200 baud modem (before that I had a 300 baud accoustic coupler that I had to stick the phone handset into) Couldn't do much with the modems, there wasn't much to connect to except Compuserve and they only allowed connections at night.

I also remember when the Dune series was new!

As was said: Ah, the good old days :bs:

My nickname is T.C., my initials from my first and last name. I used to be a big Magnum P.I. fan as a kid and my favourite character was...you guessed it ...T.C. .....it was the whole brother flying the chopper thing! When I joined the Marines I was a 'comm' guy and using the phonetic alphabet....Alpha,Bravo,Charlie ect. ......you get Tango Charlie with my nickname.Nothing fancy, just works.

    out..............

I had the commador 64 with tape drive and dual 5.25 floppys. Then the 128 came out. I also had the high tech Timex-Sinclair.
