    Should I buy? 2005 FZ1 or 2003 VFR.

I actually went through a very similar conflict. I chose the VFR as it was (to me) a more comfortable all around bike. The FZ1 was a bit faster, but the VFR seemed to be a little more confidence inspiring. I would recommend riding both and making a decision based upon your findings. One of the plus for the VFR over the FZ1 is the maintenance schedule if that is a concern.

I also looked at both the VFR and 05 FZ1. I liked the FZ-1 motor and ergo’s were fine. It’s got a carbureted motor and I wanted an injected bike. The FZ-1 has more of a muscle bike feel to it. IMO the VFR felt more refined and seemed to have slightly better handling. I also liked the fully faired look better. I would defiantly recommend riding both bikes. They both have a lot to offer it really depends on which fits your personality better. I’d like to ride a 08 FZ now that they have the FI sorted out. I rode a 06 and the fueling was pretty crappy, almost lost it coming out of a med speed turn.

A former coworker has an FZ1 and has ridden to parts of Mexico and back. I have done 1100 miles in a weekend on my stock '00 VFR. Both are decent bikes.
Ride them both and see what fits you better.
Don't let us talk you into something you'll regret and then blame us for and leave in a huff.

That last line was directed at someone else and not meant to offend you.
