    Hey all VFR owners,

What do you use to clean your bike? I am looking for some good stuff that cleans off the road grime shines things up and cleans the rims up well, using a single product. I am asking this for my long travels and on the road cleaning.

    Thanks,

    Steve

I have heard many differnt things. Honda has a cleaner that I hear is good. I have heard (on another forum) that Pledge works, I have another wash soap at home and I will get the name and post it for you. For the wheels, i used Black magic Wheel cleaner and some degrease that is orange in color. I don't know the name right off hand but I got it at Wlamart. It cleaned mywhite wheels up real good.

I've tried a few different cleaners but the one I've settled on is a spray cleaner called The BOM, which stands for Best Overall Method. I use it on the whole bike with a couple micro cloths folded in quarter squares. After a few passes, I open the cloth up and use a different clean "square". I use it on my 1800 Neo and my truck as well. Beads water superbly as I found out today after getting caught in a downpour. A bottle is around $25 and it lasts me about 2 years between the three vehicles. Does a great job at taking hard water spots off of glass and mirrors too. I'm sure there are alot of good products out there, try to experiment and see what works best for you.

someone else just reccomended plexus to me today. I'm going to go and get some today. I use wd-40 for the rims and it really cleans the grime off quickly no scrubbing necessary. plus, you know what they say. if it can't be fixed we wd40 and/or duct tape, it aint worth fixin. ;)

+1 for Honda Polish. The stuff is fantastic. Spray on, wipe off. And it goes on everything, paint, plastics, mirrors, the whole damn bike.

Does wonders for road grime wipes right off and bugs are an easy chore. If your bugs are crusty, run a towel under warm water and let it sit on the front for 5 or 10. They'll wipe right off.

Ok. I remembered tolook today, the organe degreaser I use is Greased Lightning Orange Blast and I also have Liquid Performance Cycle Wash but I have not really tried it yet as I don't have an outside water spigot to hook a hose do (this means I need a house, anyone wanna donate one?)

This Liquid Performance stuff can be found here: Liquid Performance

Are there any excellent recommendations for a good wheel cleaner especially for apparent baked on grease on the wheel.
    Thanks ahead.

Simple Green (or WD-40. but I use Simple Green usually) takes it off with ease. Rinse, then hit it with some Honda Polish and you have your BLING back!

Oh, I used Honda Polish for everything pretty much, besides the seat. The stuff works wonders and does a great job of keeping the bike lookin' purty! :vanity:

    Honda polish

A note on Honda polish - A company made the stuff for Honda for years and years. Supposedly, it has some nasty stuff that the CARB (f - them) didnt like in it and Honda decided they needed to reformulate. Well Honda pretty much screwed the original vender and went out and started making "new" stuff. So if you go down to the dealer and grab a can of the polish that is there - Its not the good stuff! (lot of stuff here) Oh but never fear the original is here! Yeah the REAL stuff is made as non honda but is called? duh?
the original polish! Its made by the real vendor - whoo hoo...... Get the original polish...
-- I wonder if Honda thinks its customers are stupid?

I like Simple Green to get off any nasty dirt/bugs/grease and Meguiars Synth Spray Detailer for keeping that shine. I also like their NTX wax, but using the spray I only wax the bike about twice a year.
