Tonight I had a Perdomo Habano Maduro 6 X 60. Holy crap, this is a powerhouse of a smoke. Perdomo is fast becomming my favorite brand. CAO is still in 1st place by Perdomo is on the outside & moving up fast. I am ordering a box of Perdomo Lot 23 tomorrow & they come with 8 freebies. 28 premium cigars for $90. Not too bad if you ask me.

KC-10 is a better man than I. Every Perdomo I have ever had has tasted good, and I do like their "Champagne" quite a bit, but the nicotine content almost kills me...

I have ordered some Gurkha Nepalese Warriors and Royal Brigades to try out, as KC-10 seems to think highly of them. Provided that I survive the encounter, I'll offer up an opinion.

    Cheers, all!

For anyone who might be interested in buying cigars & use Cigars International:

Click on the cigar you are interested in.
On the left side of the page there is a list of the "specifications" of the cigar.
This will say what country & type of leaf was used.
It will also list the relative strength of the cigar.
It will say things like: mild, mild-medium, full, medium-full, etc.

Look at these two examples, same cigar, just a different wrapper & that means a different strength & flavor.

Hey KC: those big ring gauge cigars can be wonderful if rolled correctly (Casa Blanca is known for those fattie cigars too but Perdomo is probably better by quite a bit). I did have several cigars when camping on the 4th of July weekend. Fuentes mostly. Wonderful!

I met Arturo Feunte at the Cigar Aficianado Big Smoke in Atlantic City in 2004. The way he explained it to me is with a big ring gauge, it take more than one leaf to produce the cigar. Any time you have more than one leaf in a given cigar, the taste gets more complex. Sounds good to me.

That Fuente family is quite a dynasty. Very sharp folks there. There is a real science to growing, aging and rolling cigars.

    So many cigars...so little time.

Tonights cigar was a CAO MX2 7 X 56. This one has been in my top 5 favorites for 3 years. Not a bad way to spend 2 hours. When I deploy, it gets expensive since I smoke lots of cigars.

I've noticed it gets expensive when I smoke cigars, too. I suspect that it might have something to do with the drinking and gambling, though...

Well Folks, I gotta tel ya. I like the cheap smaller cigars. Smoke Colts Mild up here in the frigid North. Enjoy Swizzer Sweets too. Haven't smoke too many of the pricier ones.

SO say said to myself, "Idiot! Go buy yourself a nice Cuban. So to the tobacconist and I bought myself a H. Upmann Coronas Major for $16.00. It sucked. Smoked half of it and threw the rest away. I may give some of what has been posted here a try but be fooked if I will spend that kind of money again...unless I am drunk....and that really doesn't happen much these days.

The Montecristo Cubans were really good about ten to fifteen years ago. Most of the Cubans I have had in the last five years have been a non-event.

I paid way too much for a couple of Fuente Opus X cigars for a Thanksgiving treat a few years back, for myself and an old friend. I smoked about 1/4 of mine and tossed it. He was braver than I and smoked about 1/3 of his before he gave up. I guess we should have drank more first.

My grandfather smoked cigars. Several years ago my dad decided he was gonna take it up again. It wasn't long before it became a semi hobby. He bought a smallish humidor to keep his hobby fresh. The last couple years have been spent testing and experimenting.
One of the finer moments of our adult relationship was sitting in the driveway with a beer and a couple fine cigars just shooting the breeze.
    Good times.

I was enjoying a Rocky Patel Edge outside last night, between the teeth chattering and numb fingers. My garage isn't much warmer. Anyone created a unique, warm location to enjoy a cigar when the temps drop way down?

I used to be the master of that...start with a good insulated coat and hat. Wrap a blanket around your legs as you sit on your favorite outdoor chair. Rotate one hand in a pocket (warming) and the other holding the cigar. Switch every so often. Try a handwarmer too. (Special bonus points for a small space heater or fire pit.) Be sure to have your iPod cranked up too! A wee dram of some alcoholic beverage helps!

I just got two of the best cigars...FREE CIGARS! A fellow who used to work with me dropped off a couple of Macanudo Maduros...very nice!

Try a Davidoff Millenium Blend. I haven't met a person yet that didn't think it was a fantastic smoke.

Buy one of those $100 fire pits they sell in Target. I think I will be buying one soon. I have 3 white oak trees that need to be cut down so I will have fire wood for quite some time.

This is so true. I don't know why, but it seems to me, that many of the finer moments in life are spent reflecting while enjoying a fine cigar with a fine drink.

Look at it this way, cigars get better when you age them. If you buy a humidor & only casually smoke a cigar every now & then, they will be better each time. That is, of course, assuming you properly care for them in the humidor.

I deploy tomorrow morning. No more messing around. the 10 place travel humidor is left on the shelf. This time around I bringing the a game & taking a 75 count real humidor with me. I put 65 cigars in it 2 days ago. That should keep me real busy. I have 2 each of 3 new cigars that I am bringing with me that I've never tried. The rest are smokes that I've had before & enjoy.

    The new ones are:
    La Flor Dominicana Ligero
    La Gloria Cubana Torpedo
    Olivia Serie "O"

"Life is too short to smoke cheap cigars & drink cheap booze."
Quote from a guy I met in 2001 that was wearing a WWI hat. He has since passed on. May his chosen supreme being bless him.

The only alcoholic beverage that should share the same sentence as "wee dram" is very good single malt Scotch. Drambui will sometimes make the cut. And that my friend, does go with a cigar no matter how good or bad the cigar is.

Oh YES! If you are sampling the Isle of Skye's products (Drambui) then you should go all the way and add some Talisker to the mix...the only scotch made on the Isle of Skye. Wonderful!

And good luck out there KC! (The La Gloria Cubanas are delightful smokes!)
