Well, I got home at 9:00AM this morning. I left REALLY early in the morning because I wanted to get home ASAP.

Everything went fine while driving. No problems at all. The temp stayed only 1/3 the way up the whole way and sometimes even cooler. The crosswind problem was not as bad as have been suggested. I ducked behind the windshield and no problems. Riding sitting up, however, was a completely different story.

There was a bit of bad news, however..... I was really tired so I stayed overnight in this "ghetto" called Amarillo. I was at a Motel 6 and parked the bike outside and I did not lock the wheel when I left it overnight. I found it across the parking lot on it's left side laying on a parking curb. Bad damage to the left top fairing, the end of the clutch lever snapped off, and the piece that holds the mirror (steel L shaped piece) was horribly bent. I was MAJOR pissed. I tried putting it in the room but could not get the 600 lbs to pop over the curb and now I paid the price for leaving it outside. I should have known something was bad when I was woken by horribly loud rap music and arguing in one of the rooms.

Now, I need to find some way to re-bend the steel piece, buy a new top portion of the fairing, a new clutch lever, maybe buy a new mirror, and never make that mistake again.

So, anywhere I can get a mint condition top piece of fiberglass pre-painted?

Damn, that sucks dude....seriously. It wouldn't have matter if you had locked it probably, those A-holes would have probably damaged it anyways. This would have had me wanting to :2guns: :faint: those sonofabitches!

Very sorry to hear this bud. I am not sure about the answer to your question, but I hope that somebody else can chime in. Beautiful bike.

Damn, this just really pisses me off to hear this kinda stuff! :frusty: Makes me even more sad because it happens to such rare Viffer (compared to newer ones, with parts more readily available).

Glad you got home OK, that's some BS about the damage.
Hope you find what you're looking for.

WOW! A 10,000R? That has got to be rare!

Sorry to kick you when you're down, but you left that one wide open.

Bastards messing with your ride.... It's a perfectly good reason to get shot in Amarillo. Hope you can get all the parts you need to make 'er look like she should.

Now go have a roast at the Big Texan, a two-step with a pretty lady at the Midnight Rodeo, get a picture of your bike at the Cadilac Ranch, and chillax at Palo Duro Canyon.

Wow. It is like something right out of a bad dream. You might want to consider finding a good body shop to repair the bodywork as it will be difficult to find otherwise.

You didn't give much information, but I checked Service Honda Home of the CR500AF 500AF 500AFX Junior-X - Honda Motorcycle Parts. I didn't see a VF10000R, but did see a VF1000R. They show two model years, '85 & '86. Looks like the have the upper fairing for '85 but not '86. It's one complete piece and is quite expensive ($1100). Check their site out, and you can get to parts schematics that will allow you to order just about any part.
