What would a red white and blue 5th gen look like?

I would change the the red color so that it follows the same flow of the white and blue instead of being pointy.

The 5th gen body style is curvy and I think it needs a "softer" blend of the RWB colors. On the 6th gen the body style is pretty aggressive looking and the RWB works well because it's already pretty angular looking.

One idea is to make the entire front red then have the middle white and then tail section blue. To make this really simple, just make the side and front fairings red, make the tank white and make the tail fairings blue. Go wild.

    Here you go.

In my humble opinion, it looks like a bike pieced together from spare parts - but that's just me.

He he, obviously you've never seen the anniversary model:

Yes, that is an ACTUAL anniversary model and not built by leftover parts ;)

I'm gonna mess around with RWB too I can't resist!!! Stay tuned for my creations.

Heheh, yes I have seen that - in fact is is featured in the service manual that was given to me with my bike when I bought it. I understand the look they were going for and I've seen the original bike that inspired that scheme, however I must admit that it's not my cup of tea (no offense to anyone across the pond that owns one!).

Man this site is bad for me-I've been on here a month and I have about $345789435987987345 worth of ideas for projects. I'm thinking I could spend as much on bikes as I do on flying without trying all that hard. Just spread it out over a few projects, rather than one big one...

The blue is off a little.

Go to the VFRD site and look at the pic of my VF1000R Rothmans. That is the correct Candy Aluetian Blue.

    I hope the pic attached.

Does anyone know roughly what it should cost to paint a VFR a solid color? I would love to have mine in the Blue that was not offered in the US. Before I even bought my red 01, I talked with someone local who was highly regarded on another forum, and when I sent him a picture of a VFR, he said he would have to charge a grand to paint it blue (with clear coat and decals).

$1000 seems excessive to me, however if I were to do it I would want it done right...

Done right... a "G" sounds about right. In SoCal anyway.

SWEET! Thanks for the idea! If my bike ever needs paint (not now, she looks like she just emerged from a 1996 time capsule), that's it!!!

Did you ever think about just buying the blue fairings from somewhere in Europe? Even if it was a few hundred more than a repainting it would be worth it because the problem is that once you get scratches you'll see the red paint underneath.

Yes I have considered that and have spent some time trying to find an online parts list with part numbers and prices for the blue. No luck so far. I would imagine that shipping would be pricey considering the size and a fuel tank has to be fairly expensive to ship due to the weight.

Maybe someone out there with an immaculate blue one wants to trade me for some immaculate red parts. Somehow, I don't see that happening.....

I don't know, if pricing was not outrageous I could see doing it, but even a grand to paint it a new color seems like to much to me personally.

    1. On the paint job, I found a guy in Austin, TX, Taylor Blair at Blair Graphics that will do a single color for $450. He did the paint job on the Rothmans for me. I supplied paint codes and decals, he did the rest. A little more than that though.

    2. Try our Canadian bros for the blue bodywork. Its been done before, ask Tourmeister.

I am really impressed with you guys photoshop skills the bikes look good. I think if you go RWB you need white wheels.

Thanks for the mock up of the 4th Gen!
After my off, all of my plastics were broken :(

I have put them in for welding, painting etc, I wanted a RWB scheme, so the mock up is just what I was looking for!

I will post some pics when I get it all painted up and looking purdy

Be sure to share before the paint is dry. I have toyed with this idea for quite some time - I think an RC30 paint scheme on the 4G will look stellar.
