Methinks that people need more time on the bike and less time on the type. As long as you're riding - that is all that matters. Respect the ride. Enjoy the scenery. Have fun.

Seriously, this flame war crap is really pathetic. It is virtually all blowing from the older Gens to the 6th Gen. "I don't like VTEC! Let me say it every chance I get." Jeez, how annoying does THAT get? What is the value of that post after the 10th or 12th time?? Not so much. This is the least appealing feature of this forum and it is very, very irritating.

If you don't like my ride, don't buy one. If you don't like your ride, sell it.

I have to say I noticed this split too a long time ago. It seemed that there was a lot of buzz over the 07 RWB.... I remember last year when we were all hoping a new model was going to be unveiled. It was disappointing when Honda just changed the color again but the comments made about what should be changed. Thats when it really comes out. It is almost always 5th gen guys that make comments about how gear driven cams and no vtec is best etc etc..... Almost like the newer bikes don't have a right to be called REAL VFRs because they went to a newer different technology. I could care less, I like them all. Funny thing is I like when I see other VFR's out and we get a chance to talk. Theres always curiosity about the different bikes and I like listening to those gear driven cams. VFRs are pretty rare sights in general. Thats what we are forgetting. We get all wound up about the different generations of essentially the same bike. Imagine if they replaced the V4 with an inline and that was our 7th gen!?! Now that may be cause for some fueding!!!

Agree on some points / Disagree on others. Since the first model year of the VFR , be it the VFR1000R or the VFR750 the gear driven cams were a true indicator of the VFR heritage as that was the barrier between the VF / VFR models.

Vtec and the chain driven cams on the 6th gen to me was a mistake by Honda designers and going back to where you had to worry about "when" your Honda cam chain tensioner was going to fail or wear out/ get weak. I have been through the CCT problems /replacement on the 1983/1984 VF750F models I owned in the past and I thought that with a VFR model the gear driven cams were a true gift for VFR owners, that is until the 6th gen was released..

Is Honda trying to destroy the VFR heritage ? I believe they are by reintroducing crappy camchains, tensioners over a tried and tested longevity of the gear driven cams.

To each his own but I myself do not consider the 6th gen a VFR just because it has Vtec and chain driven cams, and it is more touring oriented, I call it a VF800F..

There it is guys.... Apparantly the precious heritage of the VFR has been undone by cam chain tensioners and vtec!!!! Wow.

Well since we figured out what the real beef is I think I can go ride my VF800F now.

I really enjoy this board and the fact that there are guys who are passionate about their VFRs even if they are 20 years old or 20 weeks old. That tells me we are all owners of a fine piece of engineering no matter what gen you ride.

I own an 06. I bought this one because it is new, low miles and I really do not want to be a motorcycle mechanic on my weekends(helo mech on my week days), I want to ride. I know I will still work on it plenty but I figured newer would mean less wrenching in the long run.

That being said I have my 6th gen because I could not find a nice 2000 yellow in my area.

All I know is I have wanted a VFR since I watched the first red white and blue models ripping past my school bus as a kid, and now I have one. Out of everything I sat on and rode while bike shopping I still came back to the interceptors regardless of year, I just like the look , feel , and blend of performance and practicality. I wanted what I thought would be the best street bike for my commuter, and weekend rides. I love all of them.

Thread still going? Geez - I like mine, you like yours, thats all that matters. We all have some biases and tastes, but we all love the VFR V4's? Yes?

Lets ride! I dont care if you have the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th, - I'm gonna be curious about your bike and happy to ride with any fellow VFR. I like 'em all in general.

I have been guilty of some of the poop on the new bikes but I'm way done. Most new vfr owners will be the 6th gen and I'm gonna celebrate new members to our unique V4 world.

Hi, I agree. A bike is a bike. It's not important the price or the age of the bike. It is important that the driver has a "brain" and a kind attitude towards other people and nature.
Nice to belong to the VFR world. Under the helmet no matter about race, political ideas, sex or other things like this. A reactive brain and a kind soul is all we need to be bikers.
LAMPS TO ALL vfr OWNERS !

I'm a pot stirrer, what can I say.. I didn't believe it would get out of line by bring this up, I know some of you would probably like to say something, heaven knows this place is way better IMO than the other VFR site as far as attitude towards other generations go. I also know most here know where the line is drawn and it's a pretty big thick line at that. All thou some points have been made. More like any forum where you have so many folks , you'll have different strokes for different folks. It's just Why is it some feel they need to act the way they do? Guess thats what makes the world go round. I just don't have a place for snobby folks no matter what. and when I get snubbed by a VFR owner, well then I need to say something. I love ya all. peace out, VFRRROOOMMM
