Okay, this is just another fun thread. Where does one go after owning a VFR? Is this the last bike you will ever own or is there an 'upgrade'. Either to a newer gen (7-Gen perhaps) or something else.

My next bike is definitely going to be a BMW K1200S... someday that is but not in the near future.

hey K!W!, so you fancy a K 1200 ay, one of my riding buddies had one. i could not get over the size of the exhaust can - its Humongous!

otherwise he rode the wheels off it and wrote it off in a low side.
he's got a triumph thruxton now, go figure?

any way i will almost certainly will add a VTR1000 to the stable next, not looking to reduce the numbers in garage tho. VFR & vulcan will stay.

ive had a few of these now and just cant seem to do without one.
    love the big twins

7th gen VFR is the only thing I can think of, or if my wife ever finally decides she wants to tour with me it could be an FJR or Sprint ST. But I just don't see that happening in the near future.

I will have to ride my red 98 until it is dead, because I am one of those lucky bastards who can only afford one bike at a time -right now(two kids).

I agree with Kevin, though, a seventh or eighth gen will be on the list. BUT, if I could buy a new bike in the next year, that would be a very tough decision.

First, I would keep the VFR and add a Kawi Versys or KLR 650.
New sport bike would be the new BMW S1000RR, KTM RC8, or many others.
Sport tourer would be the Moto Guzi Norge

I'm with ya on the K12s. By the time I'm ready though I'm sure something else will come out that I want too. For now the VFR is it and with new cans it will take out a new lease on life in my garage. It won't sound like a tractor anymore!!!

Sell my 5th gen? Not a chance. I may add another bike to the garage, but the 5th is just way too good to ever let go of.

My next bike will most likely be a track bike. I'm thinking a RC-51 will do just fine.

    KC-10 FE out...

    Funny thing

Before I bought my leftover '05 VFR, I had put down a deposit on a leftover '05 K1200S.

Did you see the optional bags for the K12? At the time there were numerous recalls involved with the power brakes... and did you see the bags? All the new stuff they threw at that machine, push button suspension adjustment, and that weird front end in hind sight just too much technology at one time.

Out the door my VFR was 2/3 the price I worked out for the K. I'm a long time former BMW owner and maybe again but no thanks to the big "K".

Yes - BMW does try to cram as much new technology as they can in their bikes. I have read mixed reviews - mostly unfavorable - about the duolever suspension. Good to see that they have gone back to the basics on the S1000RR!!

Wow...wierd question for me. I'm just picking up my new 08 VFR on Friday and I'm really stoked about it, so I guess I can't really answer. I'm just :strong: about this one!!
Was regretting not getting a new CBR1000RR as the price would have been pretty much the same, but I figured my use of it would be pretty limited, given everything I've read.
A lot of people have mentioned getting BM'ers as their next bike, but for me, when the :bs: is down, I have to go with Honda b/c the BMW dealer is 4 hours away. Even so, I just get the feeling I won't be eating repair bills as much with the Honda.
This would be me and the BMW repair guy....:vader:

    too be fair

I've owned 2 different BMWs in 21 years, that being said I will admit that the service overall was very good... expensive but good. Just as anything else I have also come across a few bad apples but most times I would give them a very solid B+ the Honda techs I would also rate a B+ as they aren't perfect either.

And so it goes I guess like everything else.

VFR is never going away and the Blackbird will be at my disposal for a while too. The K1200S is an awesome machine and lucky I can snag that in a pinch (or whenever I can make an excuse to steal it).

But next year I'm looking to ad a GS Adventure... Did the high speed thing from left to right coast and back... It's time for some Alaskan adventure.

If you are looking at Bemmer K bikes, why not the new K-GT? That machine is beautiful. I preferred it's riding position to the S, it came with the bags... but was just too freak'in expensive to indulge in over the VFR for my pocket book.

I'm likely going to be in the used market for my next bike... (or the "emergency backup" 2nd bike)...
    a FZR400, VFR400, Hawk or
a Beemer R-RT, K-GT, Kawi Concours 14, maybe a platinum-wang... just for momma to ride along and not bitch about the seat or
a 'zuki V-strom or KTM (but with a lowering dogbone so I can throw a leg over it w/o a curb to start from , if you read much, you might think me shallow/short) or
    an old Yamaha ring-ding, or
    ....
It will *not* be a bike with a V-8 engine, have three wheels, a sissy bar, ape-hanger bars, speakers, CB-radio, flag stantions, white-wall tires, trailer hitch, neon glow lites, more chrome than paint, carbon fibre stickers, a rear tire from a car, a horn that plays "Dixie" (thou that might be cool when I jump bridges that are closed).

I'm probably going to wait for the VFR1000. The current bike is overweight and underpowered compared to what is on the market for $11,500. The GSXR1000 is a consideration but just seems overkill for the street.

My next bike became a Ducati 848 this past weekend.

    VFR=Gulfstream V
    848=F-14D

After riding the F14 over the weekend, I finally hopped on the G-V today--felt like riding with ape bars!

    Later,
    Pat

I've got the VFR and a FZ6 now, next bike would probably be more of the VFR style. 7th gen if they make one, maybe an Aprilia v four Superbike replica if I have the money.

Hmm, good question , I'm still waiting but not holding my breath on what Honda has up their sleeve of the next generation VFR, but today I'd say one of those heavy duty motard thingamajigs look pretty fun. say a KTM supermoto.

I don't know if this thread was a bad omen for me, but I smashed my bike against a guardrail carving my favorite mtn. road today. I went over the rail and walked out with a sore knee and ankle. Glad to be alive. My leather jacket and A* knee armor saved me from extensive injury. ATGATT!!!

Anyway, I have begun looking at some bikes for sale in my area and there is a 2006 VFR, which they (dealer) are asking $6999 for. I offered $6000, we'll see if they bite. The reason I am in a hurry to get another bike was that I had my big once a year weekend ride with the guys this Friday. Would still like to go.

The KLR 650 is looking more inviting now too because of it's incredibly cheap insurance.
