So I go to the MVA Monday to tag/title my 86 VFR750, and as the girl (about 22 or so) is reviewing my paperwork, she says "Oh, I see it's a 1986, would you like HISTORIC tags for that?" I graduated in 85'. Of course I got the tags, but man...

An hour later I saw a 84 Trans Am with historic tags...

Ha ha! Thanks, SCraig, but no thanks.

Yeah, on that whole feelin thing...ummm, thanks for the offer, but, ummm....Hell NO! I feel so violated...I thought this was a bike site, not a dating service...

Unless you look like this :stripper:

I'm getting social security sex; once a month, enough to get by, but not enough to make me happy!

Yea, SCRAIG might be old in years... but he rides like'a champ and put my 30 year butt thru the pase's a few weeks ago... Luck must come with age, that Federal Park Ranger had you dead to rights @ 20-25 over and let you roll on thru:ncb:
We need to do that again soon...

Where to you live that they issue antique/historic tags at 22yrs? I think Tennesse is @ 30yrs old.

Old age and treachery, youngster, old age and treachery  Radar has a hard time locking on to bikes, too much plastic and non-square angles, and I was on the brakes as hard as I could without making the front end dive too much. That would have been a giveaway. You are right though, he had me dead to rights about 20+ over the speed limit if he could have got a good lock.

Do it again? Any time, any place. Some time we need to ride down to Birmingham so you can see the Barber Museum. I've been twice and it gets better each time. Hundreds of bikes and cars on display, from early 1900's to present day, and every one of them capable of being started and ridden in less than an hour. Absolutely amazing place.

If you want curves we'll head ove rtoward Fall Creek Falls. Highway 30 at Spencer is a blast. A little farther east are the mountains. Cherohala Skyway and The Dragon are good fun to.

Oh yeah ... back on topic ... No serious takers on swapping a young body for this old worn out one? [sign] Guess I'll have to keep it then

WOW, thanks for bringing us down man... I graduated in '86 and I don't feel like I'm ready to be labled "Historic" just yet. Even though I'm now 40, I feel like I'm 21 (and act like I'm 17)!!! No matter our age, I hope we all feel young when we're on our VFR's (aka, the fountain of youth)...

    hi,
i'm 54. I feel...young riding my bike, older when I walk. I agree with Mello Dude and I do not understand people at a young age (30/40) who say : well, it's time to stop with motorcycles...it's a matter for boys, now i'm an adult.
    I am an adult (I hope..), i have a 30 years old son, a wife and...my VFR.
You can be a good worker, a good husband, a good daddy and ride a bike !
Lamps to all VFR owners, regardless age, sex, race and other things like those.

I live in MD. Anything 20 years or older can be tagged as 'historic'. I think 30 is 'antique', and if its older than 20, and radically altered from its original factory form, it can be tagged as a 'street rod'. If they are tagged as any of the above, it doesn't have to be inspected. I had mine inspected, it was $70, tags and title, with tax, on a $750 bike, was $138. The only limit is if you do tag it with any of the above, its supposed to be for limited use, like less than 5000 miles a year or something like.

Holly crap!! $700 bucks to tag?!

Age and wisdom don't come with that old body, do they? Some things you just can't buy. You can have all the best stuff, and without the skill, its just another cool bike!

This is a cool site! I thought I'd be the old guy here. I just turned 41. I feel young, most of the time. I also tee shirts older than 86. Only 2 or 3 though.

Anyone else here from central MD?
