no stock or built vfr(any year, any size)with the exception of a turbo(and its still doubtful)will hang with or beat a busa.for the record.....my best times and speeds....96 750....very low 11's(11.19...1/4 mile)low 7's(7.20....1/8th mile)...top speed gps....148.9..that was with about 5 miles of straight road with no traffic....during the day..had to know...found out...im sure i dont ever need to do it again...that was the fastest i could ever squeeze out of it. my 99 was about the same at the strip...top end was about the same...i sold my 99 to a friend...i had purschased a 01 gsxr 750 new...i had no problem droppin him like a bad habit from start to finish....a busa will leave that 750(gsxr) like it's dropped an anchor. if anyone here has any doubts about the busa's authority a couple of rides with my busa friends will erase any beliefs you have of speed. a stock vfr 750/800 will not go 155.....sorry

Here we go again, seems the non believers are out in force today and its true the busa will leave the vfr like a past thought but there is nothing funnier than watching a busa get its pride handed to it by a ZX14......

I never did understand the attraction to the Busa its heavy it looks weird and i am not impressed with the gauge cluster on it.

The ZX14 is were its at, faster better looking and if i am not mistaken alittle cheaper than the Busa.

    Happy riding

lmao...:bs:stayin with the subject......i use to believe that the vfr was faster than it really was..i tried in vain to prove it!..my 96 will show 163 on the speedo....so lets do the math.....163 subtract 10% for speedo error=146.7 mph..thats with a 3 mile straight away..sounds about right for a vfr....if you have anymore doubt id be more than happy to share a day riding with you...sorry...the vfr is what it is....a great all around bike that isnt the best at any area....just the best all around...

I did 116 on my 6th Gen yesterday (verified by GPS tattle tale). I thought my head was going to vibrate off my neck. Due to the "body shape" that comes with advanced age, I am not able to tuck in behind the windscreen as well as I would like. I've never had my head banged around like it was yesterday. Can't believe the turbulence that comes over the top of the windscreen. I was wearing an Arai helmet. Bike was rock solid - head wasn't.

I have gone about 130+ and got the head bobbles really bad with my HJC. I just got an Icon Alliance Hooligan and no such buffeting. It's just as loud, but way more aerodynamic!

So you're thinking it could be the helmet more than anything? I would think an Arai would be as stable as helmet as any aerodynamically.

Need to get rid of some stomach and get tucked in and try it again.

I've seen an indicated 130 (vf500f w/ carb work & supertrapps) & 10500 ish showing on the tach (I was a little to busy to take a close look) The bike got a lot more stable after about 110.

I recently put up a 142 mph on my GPS on my 6th gen. Previously I put up a 159 mph (per my GPS) on my 5th gen but it's slightly more sorted with the right bolt-on goodies and proper tuning!

You may not believe this, so I'll give all the details. In the spring of 2007 on a newly constructed stretch of highway in NC, I put the bike through it's paces after having it tuned. It raced up to 150 repeatedly without problems. I decided to push it, opened it up and let it run. I was amazed to see it slowly click up to 165 and I backed off. I did it again just to make sure and that was proof enough for me. I would have pushed it further, but I could feel feedback from my front fork due to badly needed tire balancing. I had to put the bike in storage a few months later while I deployed for a year. I'm anxiously awaiting a reunion very soon.

Tried this once so far...(6th gen)

    Around redline -
    1st gear: 60
    2nd gear: 80
    3rd gear: 108
    4th gear: 138 - 140 ish
5th and 6th - exceeded my manhood limitations.

Perfect conditions - cool with no wind, smooth, straight, flat road...Yea, I know - Kansas!

Well I don't have a gps but I just had a new chain, sprocket, tire and rotors all replaced on my 5th gen. Took it out on a sun morning last week, we have a new stretch of highway in Phoenix heading out of town. I gave it all she had the needle hit the h on mph. My speedometer stops at 170. That was on of the best experiences of my life, doubt I will ever do that again cause of the risk but man what a rush.

    FULLY AGREED.

I hate to sound like one of those punk kids, but when i twisted mine out I rode by the area twice, making sure the man wasn't out with the radar/laser. Then i rode like a bat out of hell and in doing so i passed not one but two coppers. All I can remember is hitting a slight dip in the road at 100 mph and launching off it like Evil Knievel. I've never quite experienced the butt pucker factor quite like that. Adrenaline is the best drug IMO

255KPH on my last bike.. FZR750RR 1989... only just seen the light and bought a VFR750FG....

Visor snapped open as I popped up over the windscreen ... nearly tore my head off.. but thats a story for another time...

Wont tell you where or when.. as it was sure as hell dangerous and illegal.. but when have we ever let that get in the way of good fun!? :party2:

Not taking the VFR up to that... in fact.. not gone over 110KPH yet... nice and relaxed... that will change once we get out of winter... :ncb:
