    Good afternoon ALL,

Today, for the second time the 30amp fuse (adjacent to battery) blew. The plastic harness that holds the fuse has burn signs and partially exposed wire at the base. This fuse has something to do with the fuel pump that much I know............duh. Soooo, new battery and fuse later and presto, she's back in action. Didn't need the battery as it turned out. Oh well.

    A few questions:

    1. Has anyone else been replacing these fuses on a regular basis,
    2. What is the proper "docking" for the plastic harness, if it's
    grounding off, and,
    3. Any recall on this, or am I just unlucky?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanx

    RdeV

Have you had the wire harness recall performed? Sounds like you haven't and that is your issue.

Quickest thing is probably just to call Honda dealership and give them your VIN. They can look up any recalls for your bike. There is also a recall for the PCV on certain 6th gen models. Also good to sign up for Honda's "owner link" (http://vfrworld.com/forums/sixth-generation-2002-2007/www.ahm-ownerlink.com). Once you're registered the site will also show you what recalls are open for your bike.

I'd jump on this quickly as it seems those bikes that are experiencing symptoms seem to degrade rather fast.

PCV? forgive me, I'm not familiar. Been viewing all the threads at VFR World an VFRD, regarding this item..very helpful and useful info.........buuuuuut my head is spinning.
Can't afford for the bike to be down too long as I commute daily with some longer rides on the weekends. Anyway a good start will be to call the dealer and go from there and I'll be sure to register @ the owners link site.

    Thanx again.

Be aware, if you take your bike in for the harness issue and they know it needs the PCV (proportioning control valve...brake stuff) recall then they will perform the PCV test because it is a safety issue. The recall is to test and if the bike fails the test then they order and replace the PCV; and you can't have your bike while the part is on order because of the safety concern (at least that is what my dealership told me). If you're lucky you can give your VIN to your dealership and they can tell you what recalls are open and if the harness is open they will order the harness and call you when it is in. The work only takes about 3 hours (Honda pays 1.7 hours for the repair if I recall). Some have been unlucky and the dealership insisted on seeing their bike before ordering the part and then wanted to keep the bike until the harness arrived. I'd say if they try that then just call another dealership. I'd also ask if they've performed many of these.
