Officially, Hyperlites are an add on...they flash and your original stays in normal operation.
I used to wear a headlight (a light on the helmet) when bicycle commuting and a look towards someone at an intersection always seemed to alert them. Nothing like that flash of light right at them to say "hey, I'm here." I wonder if one can get away with that on a MC? You might consider adding other red flashing bicycle lights to your pack or bike but again, check your state for what is legal on a MC.

Had a friend with a CBR(one side bright, the other side normal lights) with his normal light he had lights that gave a redish light nothing that would look out of place alone, and a blue halogen for a bright, flashing his brights was a dramtic change....the fact it looked like a cop may of helped as well.
I like the idea of strapping lights to my helmet, this also does little for daylight visability.

I also agree with what many others here have said: ride like you're invisible.

In the UK, for the most part, only MC police wear a white helmet. Now I got one because I thought it'd be more visible; not as good as bright yellow but pretty good. And so it is - but not just for the physical reason. If you're behind a car the driver automatically assumes you're police. They'll slow down to 1 mph below the limit, move over to let you pass etc. If they're behind you, they give you a wide berth on the grounds you're probably an off-duty copper & knocking you off your bike is such a bad idea :)

I've got the full Honda luggage on the back of my VFR and I've found this gives a huge increase in road "presence" (bike & luggage all Italian red, as is 1/2 my jacket). I often need it to carry stuff to client's places so I leave it permanently on. Yeah, it stops me filtering sometimes but it also stops me trying to hard at that (I know what I can be like). Just to add to the visibility, I'm looking to add some sidelights to the back of the pannier boxes once I've figured out a reliable way to auto connect/disconnect the power. I figure the kind of contacts used for car tailgates should work.

Since I ride in the crazy roads of Greece, I think that the best is to ride faster than cars and in low visibility conditions if you decide to stop at the red lights have always brakes on and stop as far right as you can...

    You could try this

I have a Knight Rider light under my tailight with an LED to light my plate.

The Red light goes back and forth until brake then flashes.

I am installing an LED engine kit and while I'm doing it I will be adding some red LED's to random places, that will be on at all times. they are very bright. I am getting them from boogey.com

I run the Night Rider LED. Folks tell me it is very bright, and can be seen at night form more than a half mile away. It will mark you though, people know it's me.

some states do not allow these types of lights.

    Check Local Listings.

that is isnteresting. I work at an accessories shop, and all the law I know, nothing even mentions adding red lights facing backwards. But I imagine, at some point, it would be a concern, so I assume, you are right.

    my head hurts. lol.

Anyone have an idea of where I could get a listing for the law concerning motorcycles and how they can be modified?
