Hello everyone. I have been dipping in and out of this fine forum for some time now. I have found it to be a valuable source of information and suppliers on the other side of 'The pond'.

I am already the proud owner of a 1997 750FV and a 1991 750FL. Last week, my girlfriend presented me with a gift, and what a gift, an 11000 mile 1986 JPS VFR 750FG, see picture below.

I know the seller who gave me the following information. If the history checks out this could be one very special VFR.

    It's supposed to be:

1986 blueprinted Bernie Saunders commissioned bike - 11000 miles from new (with all the MOT's to prove it), 'mothballed' from 1986 to 1994, in the original Dreamworks colourway of the "Race Team that never was" thanks to JPS withdrawing their sponsership when Honda teamed up with Lotus & cars & bikes went to Rothmans.

MOT's back to 1994, when it came out of mothballs for it's first test with 1700miles on the clock. Specially commissioned / blueprinted Honda JPS(Lotus), the year JPS withdrew their sponsership & Honda engines came on board. 1 of 2....don't know where the other is & 2 track race bikes.....which may well have been 'scrapped'

I'm on the hunt trying to firm this up. If it's true it's a rare beast indeed!

Now for my problem. The rear seat cowl had quite a bad mark on it so I decided to repaint it. I used a product called Nitromors to remove the paint. Not only did it remove the paint but it removed half of the plastic too. It melted it into a messy thing. My fault completely :redface:

I have searched on the forum and found that there may be a guy called Chuck from Cobalt racing who still makes the seat cowl. I have tried to Email him at Cobalt Racing but it just bounces back. I have also sent him a message via Ebay under the name of VFRChuck but have not received a reply.

Does anyone have some other contact details for him please, or an alternative source for a seat cowl?

Beautifull bike. Its possible its very rare and valuable. You might was to consider getting a pro to work with you for your minor "fix" up.

    Good luck,
