well no luck with mechanics around here they act like they have never seen a vfr and dont know how , it looks like the 3 bearing i got from all bearing all go inside the sprocket carrier and the nut that holds it together is HUGE its a 42mm or so and no auto parts store carries anything bigger than a 38 , please help i cant be the only one that has come to this problem , i need your expertise :(

Sorry, I have a 5th gen manual only. Are you replacing the axle/hub bearings and the wheel bearings? Is that what you are saying? The rear wheel on your VFR does not have any bearings. They are in the axle/hub.

Dude - sometimes posts will speed thru the top ten before anybody sees it. And also its a holiday Friday. This is the first I've seen your post. I try to jump in on mechanical stuff when I can.

To your dilema - First do you have a 4th gen manual? Your gonna need it.
Your looking at a pretty good tear down of the rear axle stuff. And yeah, Its a good shot that the chain/sprockets need to come off and then the bust that damn big nut loose is gonna need to happen. Then brakes (Rotor/caliper) may need to come off. Theres a bearing carrier in there, that will come out and a press out the old and press in the new will need to be done too. Also possible that it might be easier if the swingarm come off too. --- Lots of stuff!---

My point is - you looking at fairly skilled job, and if you unsure what to do - get help!

Why are you doing both -front- and -rear-?

    Good luck,
    MD

Doing both front and rear, for they are both making horrible noise!! And yes, i do know its the axle hub bearings. There are 3 bearings that came in the kit for the rear. The manual that came with my bike doesnt cover the fourth gen. I will download that manuel (Brian) and hopefully it will help!! Thanks!!! :) I have a friend I met with a bike shop here in TX, and im going to do it at his shop. He said he would find a socket to work and hopefully i can get him to press in and out the old and new ones. I appreciate the help from all you... any other tricks/shortcuts are GREATLY appreciated!! Thanks to all!!
Brian... I will be getting those forks from you within the next few weeks. thanks a TON for holdin em for me!! Gotta get the "financial situation" correct. U know how moving can be. (and wifes... LOL) She thanks you too. Got her to love riding as much as me! :) Thanks again and HAPPY RIDING!!!!
