I have a 2007 and I'm thinking about buying a seat but I'm hoping it will help with my height issue. I have heard the Corbin drops it about 1/2 inch. As for the Sargeant, they say it doesn't lower it any but with the pictures I have seen its deceiving. It may not be any lower but it looks narrower. If that's the case that would be fine. I've added a lowering link to mine and I now tip toe the bike. It would be great if anyone can confirm this for me.

I can say that for the 5th gen bikes the Sargent is LOWER. it may because it is more narrow but either way it is easier to touch. Having said that both makers can design the saddle for shorter riders by both lowering the narrowing upon request.

Yes, they said they can modify my stock seat and make it lower but I was hoping to buy one of Sargeant's World Sport seat and they say they can't modify that one...bummer

my sargent feels higher on my 03. I am only 5'6 so I too have a hard time with seat height but I love the sargent and for rides over 250 miles it is much better. I think my Sargent feels wider not narrower but that is just my feeling.

I have the Corbin. It may be lower in height but it's wider so I feel that you end up with your feet touching about the same.

    They're crazy comfortable though.

I have a sargent world whatever on my 2007 and it is not lower! It is at least the same height as stock. I have a 30" waist and the sargent is wider than stock. Stock is overall "lower". I am thinking about shaving the sargent a little. I am also very disappointed that the cowl cover does not fit good either. It goes on but bulges the cover on the sides and looks like crap not to mention it could ultimately distort the cover eventually.

Like you said, it is not lower, but a bit wider.

As for the cowl, it fit perfectly on mine, tight fit but it fit.

My experience with Corbin is that you sit lower in the bike vs stock. I like it. The stock I feel like I'm sitting on top the bike - dont like.

The physical difference cant be that much, but the difference in ergos jumps out. (good) The bars even feel a bit taller with the seat too.

    Hi,

Just got off the phone with Sargeants. Just ordered a seat for my 2002 VFR. I explained that I'm only 5'5" and have trouble reaching the ground, and Yes, they can modify the seat so it is narrower in the front and gives you about an 1" of drop in the seat. So I should be close to flat footed on both sides of the bike shortly.

It's a month away from receiving, but I'll post if it lowers or raises (oh no!!) the seat height. According to them, it will lower it so I can reach the ground better!

Hmmm very interesting because when I called Sargent they told me that it didn't sit lower and that they could not make their seat any lower. The only option I had was to have them modify a stock seat. On a side note, after several replies to this post I found and bought a Sargent seat, took a trip to Buffalo and I thought the seat was uncomfortable so I sold it to another member on this site. I was just to short to benefit from the seat. So now I have to either modify a stock seat or try a Corbin. I'm intrigued by Mello Dude's post about the Corbin.

Don't know what to tell you, but I just shelled out $400 for a red-pinstripe seat, with the front of the seat to have extra narrowing so my feet will hit the ground a little lower. I spoke with a guy named Rudi, very nice guy.

It will be interesting now to see how well it works when it gets here. Concerns me tho that you were not comfortable on yours. That's a lot of money to "sit" on for a ride.

This really is interesting since the Rudi was the same guy that told me the seat couldn't be modified, shorter or narrower, and yes he was a nice guy. As for the comfort, it was fine until I had been on it for a long time. The problem with being short is that I don't think you really get all of the benefits fot he seat being dished out. In you're case you'll probably be fine since they are narrowing it. Besides I'm shorter than you are. Good Luck.

I agree, I was kind of dumb founded when they said they couldn't shave their seat(world seat) but what can you do.

On my bike currently I only have the lowering link installed in the back. When I bought my link I found it on Ebay and had it on my 5th Gen, once I got my 6th Gen I just switched it over. For me it did the trick. When I brought my bike home I could only tip toe with 1 foot. Talk about nerve racking. Now with the link installed I can touch both feet. Being short is a real pain in the A__ As for the lowering link/kits her is a quick run down and the e-mail where they can be attained.

It's easy to install, 2 bolts hold the link on. Basically, put the bike on the center stand and have a jack so once you remove the original link you can jack up the rear suspension to line the holes up in the new link.

The guy who sells the parts has lowering links, risers for the clip-ons and a lowered kickstand. The link is supposed to drop the bike 1.25" He can be reached at mct54@excite.com, and as of 2 weeks ago he had all of the parts in stock.

Capt - I hope you raised the forks in the triple clamps some with that lowering link you got. If you didnt it will make the bike steer slower.

Which bike are you looking for a seat? 5th or 6th?

I ride an '06, and gotta agree with Mello, once again. The "pocket" of the Corbin is lower than stock. The seat , over all is wider. I'm 5'11", with a 30" inseam. I can't say that I can reach the ground any better with the Corbin as opposed to the stocker. I find the Corbin more comfortable.
Having said all that, Tom Corbin will never make another red cent off of me. Corbin is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I'll spare you my usual Corbin rant, and just say, BEWARE.
My next bike will most likely wear a Sargent.

Hmmm, sounds like maybe I should go back to plan B or C or whatever letter I'm on now. One of the local shops here won't deal with Corbin anymore. I haven't heard the horror stories but I can imagine. Anyways, when I sold my Sargent seat I traded it for money and another stock seat so that I had the option to get one of them reshaped and recovered. Plan "C" is to send the extra stock seat to Sargent. I will say that I liked the Sargent seat. Nice seat, good quality just wasn't a good fit. I'd have the work done in town but I don't really know anyone's reputation and I want it done right. Fortunately with the extra seat I can have the work done without sacrificing riding time. I went thru this on my 5th gen, the guy had my seat for 3 weeks, was supposed to be 3-5 days.
