Has anyone tried replacing the tach face?

I'm not real fond of the tach display on my 91. It's like there are too many increments between ever 1000 rpms. I think it would look better with just one line for every 500 rpm instead of one every 200. At first I was hoping it was marked every 250 so I could just black out ever other one but upon further investigation that isn't the case. I don't want it to look like a hack job either so I'm thinking the entire gauge face will have to be repainted. Thoughts, ideas? Thanks.

In 97 I made a set of dials using the originals as templates for my new fire blade. I changed it to a white dial layout and also from Km's to miles..
Worked perfectly. I just printed it on thick photo paper & stuck it over the top.

Take gauge face off... usually 3 or 4 bolts.

You don't even have to take the needle off just put a slit in the paper, line up and put back together. If it's a decent weight 200+ then you won't even need to stick it..

I was thinking more along the lines of paint instead of a decal, but I was thinking the paint wouldn't let the light shine through at night.

I've seen replacement faces, but the ones for a 3rd gen all seem to be marked at 200 RPM just like the originals.

Depending on how adventurous you are, you can cut and splice an entirely new gauge package into your VFR. I did that to mine. Went with a later version of the CBR 1000RR gauges, and just recently updated the entire thing again. If you can read a wiring schematic, and know how to cut/splice wires, it isn't that difficult.
