    Hi all,

What are the ways to visually identify a 6x from a non-6x?

    Thanks!

Okay let me add to this since I've learned more, I think. :) This info found via google, not sure if fact or not.

I'm told the '86 VFR750 had an option at time of purchase to add an HRC race package. This package came with flat-slide carbs and some other upgrades.

The better question is does anyone know about this package? If it in fact was an option what did it come with? And how can someone identify whether a 750 has this package or not?

    Thanks in advance!

Never heard of a "package" such as that being available to the "regular" consumer but that doesn't mean it never was.

Certainly should be pretty easy to check the carbs from the side of the bike and see if they are Flat-slides or the standard CV carbs.

Keep us posted on what YOU discover as I'm sure others would be interested as well.

There was a HRC race kit that was available to purchase for the 86, but you didn't just add it like an option. Privateer racers purchased it from HRC, and I think it was something like $4000.

The 6x is not just a kitted 86 VFR. It is a HRC prototype racer and only a handful were made. It looks like an 86 VFR but actually shares very few parts.

Yes! I've learned that the 6x is a full factory bike they only made a few of. The flat slide carbs, titanium side cases, valves, etc. And I found the same info on the $4k HRC racer kit.
