20 mile ride and so far just needed the idle readjusted and tighten the head race.
The bike runs strong, I was surprised by the grunt of the stock form. Handling was amazing and I this was my first experience on Shinko tires, but they work really well. Waiting on body clips to reinstall the center radiator guard/bodywork.

Oh and if you notice the front chicken strips are not too large (in the previous post). Stick to your recommended profile tires people. I wasn't going crazy and the bike just rolled from edge to edge super smooth. I do need front brake pads. I tried to stretch these out, but they are toast. Who knows how old they are. lol
Ahh chin fairing..forgot what it was called in during my last post.

Standard I suppose. Do you mean like the VF500?

I would need a pick for reference of the VF1000R, but I think it is a standard axle.

Chin fairing is now installed and another test ride completed. My last concern is idle. The idle keeps adjusting itself and I think it is due to the original cable that I "saved from the bin". Time to find an alternate. The bike is really fun to ride.
A general carb question. What settings change throttle down? If I rev the bike up and let come back down to idle, what changes how fast it drops?

    Looking good!

In my experiences, typically a lean condition on the idle circuit will exhibit a hanging idle. Or one that wants to creep up after getting to full operation temp. Can often be from a small intake leak, like at the insulators.

Sometimes how the lower air box seals with the plenum can be a problem area too. I don't think that model would suffer from that, but it might be something to consider.

Have you tried adjusting the pilot screws for any change? It might not "cure" it, but if you can realize a small improvement by opening them more you might have something to go on. If you are exceeding 3 turns out from seated, in my opinion it is time to go up one size on the pilot. Which I think you did go one size up from stock already when assembling?

I am running stock jetting which RickO recommended. Currently 2 turns out, but I will verify next weekend. I am wondering if I tore one of my new insulators. Doubt it, but I will inspect.
Also, does everyone run both push and pull cables? I typically prefer just the pull, but besides crashing and forcing a full throttle, I don't see the harm in just the pull.

These were some very pretty "standard" forks that were fitted to the cb1000, "The Big One", with axle drop-outs.

Go to 2-1/4 or 2-1/2 and see if you get some improvement.

I am yet to come across a Honda V4 that didn't like up one from stock on the pilot jet. But I do live in Washington, closer to sea level with an abundance of cooler, dense air and mostly deal with U.S. Spec bikes.

Just pull is fine I'm sure. I run both on everything, I guess I don't seem to have problems routing and adjusting cables for the correct action, both ways, on my bikes.
