Lower foot pegs?

    Hello all - been a while.

    Getting old and my knees are hurting after an hour on my good old 2010 VFR1200F. I either fix the problem or sell the bike. Before selling, I thought I'd try lowering the foot pegs.

    There are plenty of OLD threads on this issue, but what's currently the best way to go?

    Ebay has a million options at 25mm and 40mm, would be glad to go even lower than 40mm. No problem adjusting the brake/shift levers if needed.

    Anyone have any luck with current options? Really love the bike, but it's general use is commuting (no problem) and many 3 hour rides from Chicago to South Haven, Michigan over the summer. Hoping to enjoy that ride without having to stop to stretch to alleviate the pain. Takes some of the joy out of riding, and that's just... not ok.

    Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    I have 2010 vfr12 dct
    Has 4" riser bar, Corbin seat, love the bike, want anything I can get to lower the foot pegs.

    Just do a search for Lower Pegs - that’s how I found prior discussions. Since I haven’t gotten a response, I’m buying some cheap ones off of eBay to see if it helps.

    Dan, have your purchased the lowering pegs? If so, did they work? What else have you done to make your bike more comfortable? I am in a similar situation to you. Looking for more long distance comfort. I already have Helibars (helped) and a Russell Day Long seat (helped a lot).

    I have not. Was contemplating selling the bike (still am) and let a friend give it an extended ride in Michigan (I’m in Chicago area).

    Just got it back recently. Plan on changing the pegs, but I’m likely putting it up for sale. Love the bike, but I think it’s time for a street oriented adventure tourer to stretch the legs. Still have the Tuono in the garage for sportier rides…

    If I hit eBay and add the pegs I’ll be sure to report.

    Go on eBay and look for vario foot pegs, they rotate and give you a heap of options for height. I have them on my 6th gen 800 and work a treat. Type in rear sets, vario, lowering foot pegs or similar and they should come up. Let me know if you struggle and I’ll find the link and pass it on. They operate via a cam so you can raise them or lower around the circumference of a set circle pattern embossed into the parts and lock together. They fit straight into the existing carries and only need the pin pulled and reinserted to fit

    I took the VFR out for a long ride yesterday. Still
    love the power and handling and weather protection and crazy cargo, but I think it’s just time for something with more relaxed ergos all around.

    maybe a Turismo Veloce or a Super Duke GT if I can find one for a decent price. Maybe even a Tiger 900 set up for street touring. Who knows.

    I’ve been favoring the Tuono other than for cold weather or long distance rides (back and forth from Chicago to Michigan). I think it’s time.

    After I take some detailed pics, I’ll be making a trip to the classifieds… wow.

    Just seen your reply, ………don’t sell it you’ll regret it, just get another and create some room in the garage

    Bar risers on the VFR’s are dead effective and fairly cheap at £50 ish and with a combination of those and the vario foot pegs it becomes a different bike and very ‘sit up and beg’ if you catch my drift?

    If you can’t find any of the pegs if you decide to keep it, let me know as I have a spare pair up for grabs if you’re stuck. Fingers crossed you keep her, I hate selling bikes


    The Aprillia is a bit of a beast to ride and a proper hoot when you give it the beans, I love em but it’s more the engine for me, just love odd configurations. I think it’s the vibes, you just know when you’re riding them through the feel. The two CB’s I have are the only inline 4’s I’ve ever owned bar a few CBR’s and a couple of ZX7R’s, I just like the noise and feel of other motors, yer know?

    I have been considering the lowered pegs from Knight Design:

    They are pricey but seem well made.

    I have a question for you. You said, "No problem adjusting the brake/shift levers if needed." I want to lower my brake pedal but I don't see a way to do that easily, and certainly not with a lowered foot peg. Do you have some knowledge about this you could share?

    I have had the Knight Design pegs for 9 years and they are great. If I remember adjusting the rear brake pedal took a lot of fussing, because you need to adjust the brake light switch too. But it worth the effort, I couldn't ride the bike in stock positions.

    I would love it if you could post some details and maybe a photo of your brake pedal. I see a fairly straightforward way to adjust the shift pedal but not the brake pedal. Did you have to bend it?
